Year 10 Rugby team are Hull Champions again!

The Sirius Academy Year 10 Rugby League team won their third consecutive Hull Schools Cup Final after a comprehensive 42-14 victory over Andrew Marvell. The team who have had a successful year, including winning the Hull Schools League, reaching the Yorkshire Cup semi-finals and National Cup stages, were assured throughout, defending well and finishing off tries with great skill. The team now look forward to their last year as a school team as they look to add further accolades to their list of achievements.
The first half saw a Sirius blitz, led by strong defence in the middle from captain for the night on his final Sirius appearance, Alec Beaumont, supported by Jon Mills and Kai Thorpe. In attack James Ducker, Chris Brown and Ray Brown made good yards forward with Kenan Stephenson and Loch Fitzgerald controlling the play well. First over was Chris Brown off a good Brad McLaughlin offload with Thorpe goaling, before Brown sprinted clear for his 2nd try. Ray Brown was next over with another Thorpe goal for 18-0. With little time remaining a Fitzgerald kick was grounded by Stephenson for a half-time lead of 24-0.
The 2nd half continued in the same manner with Chris Brown again scoring from long distance to complete his hat-trick, however credit to Marvell who fired back with two quick tries for 30-10. Fittingly it was Brown who grabbed the final two Sirius tries to complete his Man of the Match performance and take his tally to five tries for the match, with Thorpe and Beaumont converting for the final 42-14 win.
Please congratulate the following boys on their success this year, attitude and behaviour:
Kenan Stephenson, Haydn Mortimer, Callum Magee, Connah Oliver, Luke Collingwood, Brad McLaughlin, Lochlan Fitzgerald, Jon Mills, Alec Beaumont ©, Kai Thorpe (Year 9), Ray Brown, James Ducker, Chris Brown, Charlie Jackson, Tom Greenham, Matthew Burgess, Brandon Butcher.
