Year 10 Rugby team begin Yorkshire Cup defence!
The Sirius Academy Year 10 Rugby team began their defence of the Champion Schools Yorkshire Cup, a competition that they have won for the previous two seasons, with a comprehensive 70-0 victory over St Wilfred’s Catholic High (Wakefield). The team know tougher challenges await in the coming rounds, with York High (North Yorkshire) likely to be next up, a team that will provide a real challenge to the boys credentials.
The team played some outstanding Rugby with some terrific tries scored. The stand-out performer was undoubtedly debutant Josh Jarvis, who in his 1st ever competitive Rugby match scored a sensational 6 tries in a display of powerful running. Other try scorers included Luke Moss (2), Josh Atkinson, Harry Whittles, Brett Dorley and Josh Lomax with Whittles adding 8 goals.
Special thanks to Rachel Gay for her support with the team and to Shawn Boatin, Cosi Basile, Danny Rouse, Lewis Jarvis and Martin Smith for coming and supporting the boys.
Congratulations the following boys on their performance, success and attitude:
