Year 11 Football team reach Hull Cup Final!
The Year 11 Football team reached the Hull Schools Cup Final for the 2nd consecutive year after an emphatic 8-0 win over long-time rivals St Marys College. The boys produced a 1st half display which totally blew their opponents away, scoring all of their goals and utilising the strong wind which was at their backs during the half. The team now face Winifred Holtby in the Final in what could be their last match as a school team.
The match started with Sirius on the front foot with a dangerous Salas delivery been headed into the net by the Marys centre-back for an early 1-0 lead. Again it was a Salas corner which was fired home by Joseph Wood for 2-0. Ewan Malton was next up as he poked the ball home from a goal-mouth scramble before Salas danced through the defence and shot into the top corner for 4-0. Another Salas long pass sent Kenan Stephenson through who calmly chipped the keeper for 5-0 before Malton calmly slotted the ball away for 6-0. Salas added his 2nd goal before Wood curled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box for the final 8-0 score-line all before half-time.
Special thanks to Martin Smith for his support with coaching the team and to Jack Hostead, Miss Brennan, Danny Rouse and Steve Foster for their support.
Please congratulate the following boys on their attitude and success:
