Year 11 Rugby boys beat rivals St Marys!

[30 Sep 2016]

The Year 11 Rugby boys got the better of their long-time rivals, St Marys College in their Hull Schools Premier League clash. The teams who over the years have had some close battles, produced another good match in tough, windy conditions. The skill and execution of Sirius boys proved the difference and they eventually ran out 28-10 winners.

Sirius started the match on the front foot with Declan Jackson leading from the front with strong drives, supported well by the strong running Jack Arnett, Keane Stevenson and Rhys Purchon. Half-backs Mikey Lewis and Luke Moss fed the back-line well with Dylan Hepworth, Tyler Hackett and Callum Riley making plenty of half breaks. The first try came as Jackson skipped across the line and fed the impressive Reece Gooch who crossed wide-out. Next over was Stevenson who crashed over off a Keran Bartlett short pass with Lewis converting. Gooch raced over for his 2nd after good work by the ever elusive Jack Scottow with Lewis diving over for the final score of the half to take a 22-0 lead in the break.

The 2nd half saw constant changes change the flow of the game however the impressive Year 10 players in Jack Hassard, Joe Aitcheson and Taylor Eastwood all made solid impacts on the game. Harrison Longden and Matty Wilson came on to add energy going forward as both teams worked hard to gain a upper hand. Marys crossed first with a smart try however an excellent short pass from Jackson saw Arnett race over with Moss goaling before a final Marys try rounded the scoring up at 28-10.

Special thanks to Martin Smith for his support with the lads and to Miss Miles and Mr Boatin for coming out to support them.

Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:
