Year 11 Rugby League team Start the season in style!
Despite this being their first rugby league fixture of the season, the Year 11 Rugby League team were full of confidence yesterday with Mr Boatin as match day coach, who boasts an 100% win record in rugby league fixtures! Sirius welcomed Kelvin Hall to Pickering road, and a bumper crowd turned out to watch the game!
The Yorkshire champions started the game well with two quick tries completed by Tyrone Wilshere and Tom Wilkinson (year 10), Brandon Sargeson and Jack Wilson-Gray punched easy yards up the field with clever plays and aggressive breaks through the defensive line. The Sirius super talent; Leon Stewart (year 10) filled in at full-back completing punishing carries, flattening defenders before scoring a fantastic solo effort under the sticks.
Man of the match Joe Kennedy was a rock in defence which made the opposition think twice about attacking down his side, the great wall of Kennedy didn’t hold back, and flattened attackers with inch perfect tackling technique throughout the game!
The second half saw Sirius play with a bit more swagger with further tries added to the score by
Taylor Eastwood, Joe Aitchison and Tom Borman. Liam Deighton was brought into the game towards the end of the second half and made a fantastic carry from kick off which sparked a great team try.
Final score saw Sirius win 38-8.
