Year 11 Rugby team qualify for Yorkshire Cup!
The Sirius Academy Year 11 Rugby team secured automatic Yorkshire Cup qualification with a comprehensive victory over a brave Kelvin Hall side. The team coped well with players missing and impressed with their determination in defence to ensure the visitors remained scoreless, whilst scoring some great tries themselves on route to a 44-0 win.
Kelvin started the match strongly with Sirius having to defend their own line with Benn Arbon, Louis Calvert and Kai Overton leading the way. In attack Liam Harris and Kieran Jones found runners in Brandon Hepworth and Josh Jackson as Sirius battled to find field position. On their 1st attack Jones pushed through a little grubber kick for Connor Giddings to score for a 4-0 lead. Next over was the impressive George Scottow who streaked away from half-way with Harris adding the goal for a 10-0 lead. Next over was Peter Butcher who hit a great line off Harris for 14-0 before Scottow was sent away by Arbon to score under the posts for a 20-0 lead after Jones had added the extras. On the stroke of half-time Hepworth showed great speed and power to race away with another Jones goal for 26-0.
The 2nd half proved tougher for Sirius with Kelvin battling hard, with Sirius wingers Jon Godwin and James Atkinson relieving pressure with Liam Moss impressing off the bench. Overton was first over with Jones goaling, before Jackson run a great line and rounded the full-back for a 38-0 lead. Hepworth had the last say with another strong finish with Harris goaling for a 44-0 win.
Please congratulate the following boys on their performance and attitude:
Connor Giddings, Jon Godwin, Brandon Hepworth, Josh Jackson, James Atkinson, Liam Harris, Kieran Jones, Kai Overton, Benn Arbon, Louis Calvert, Peter Butcher, George Scottow, Liam Moss, Josh Illes, Jordan Borman, Liam Sigurddson.
