Year 5 Basketball Talent Camp
Forty-five year five students joined together at Sirius West on Friday 10 March to take part in a Basketball Talent Camp. The students involved came from Newington, Thoresby, Christoper Pickering, Alderman and Ainthorpe Primary Schools.
Students spent the afternoon developing their basic dribbling, passing and shooting skills before implementing them within a series of mini games, which also tested their knowledge of the rules involved in basketball. Led by the coach of Hull Stingers Basketball Club, Phil Pocknee, students quickly developed as players as a result of his expertise, showing clear potential within the sport.
Sports scholarship students Lauren McClean, Jessica Taylor, Harry Fenton and Tom Overton supported in providing model demonstrations and helping to enforce the rules of the game through sharp refereeing.
