Year 7 Boys Rugby League National 9 a-side competiton
Yesterday the Year 7 Boys playing a National Schools Rugby 9 a-side competition ran by the RFL in Warrington. As Sirius Academy West won the Hull Schools Cup in the same competition they were placed in the Championship group against the best of the best from around the country. Unfortunately four key players for the Sirius side that won the Hull Schools Cup were unable to play, which left the boys with only 11 players, which was very tough going only having 2 subs in one of the hottest days of the year.
Unfortunately in the group stages the boys lost to some superb sides, as Bridgewater, St Peter and Paul and Minsthorpe all were victorious. The team improved as the competition we on, and found themselves coming close to a draw with Minsthorpe but they scored in the dying seconds, which meant Sirius finished 4th in their group and would play 4th place from the other two groups.
St Marys came out worthy winners in the first match, but Sirius had got into their stride for the final game of the day against Rochdale with a convincing 4 – 0 win their most impressive performance of the day.
Please congratulate the squad on their attitude, effort and behaviour.
