Year 7 Boys Rugby League: Sirius Academy West 44 Hessle High 0
The talented Year 7 Sirius West Boys team made it three wins from three with a convincing victory over Hessle High School.
Bailey Jennison started off the scoring early on in the first half after some good play down the left by forwards Connor Arnold and Fletcher Elliot in the first two tackles before the half backs of Lennie Ellis and Will Furmage combined to send Bailey through the gap on the right, Sam Hassard converted. Shortly after it was captain Macauley Medlam who went over in the corner after some great quick passing down the line, Lennie Ellis converted to make the score 12 – 0 with only five minutes played. The home side was looking after the ball well as they controlled the game. It was only a matter of time before the lead was extended and this time is was Sam Hassard who threw a good dummy and scooted over, he also converted his try. The strong running of Malachi Tony was causing the Hessle defence a lot of problems as he showed real power and speed to go over for another well worked try that was converted by Lennie Ellis. Bailey Jennison got his second of the game with a fine solo effort, running over 50 meters to score the try. Winger Jack Silvester rounded off the scoring after some quick thinking and good hands down the left hand side sending him over in the corner. The scoreline at halftime was 32 – 0 to Sirius Academy West at the halftime break.
The second half started a bit scrappy, with both teams making errors early in the tackle count. For the first time in the game the Sirius defence was tested as Hessle got repeat sets on their tryline, the defence stood strong and made sure that the opponents did not get over the tryline. Good play in their own half sent Malachi Tony over for his second of the game which Lennie Ellis converted. Bailey Jennison showed real strength and pace to go over for his hat-trick, that Sam Hassard converted. Final score finished Sirius Academy West 44 Hessle High 0.
