Sirius Academy West 52 Hessle 6

Sirius Academy West Year 7 Boys continued with their outstanding rugby performances with a third consecutive win in the Hull West League that confirms their top spot in the league and a place in the Yorkshire Competition.

The game didn’t start well for West as they conceded an early try to put Hessle in front 6 – 0. But once Sirius got in their stride there was no stopping them. The big strong forwards of Kai Jenman and Jack Horsfield were leading the way as Hessle struggled to contain them. It was Jack Horsfield who went over first for the home side showing real power and speed to go over under the sticks, Daire Kemp converted to level the scores 6 – 6.  From then on in the floodgates opened with two tries for Kai Jenman before Jack Horsfield went over for two more tries to complete his first half hat-trick. Another powerful forward Mason Creighton was brought on after ten minutes and he also gave the Hessle side problems with his strong running which would drag in many tacklers as he made space for Daire Kemp to  go over to make the haftime score 36 – 6.

The second half Hessle tried to come back into the game, but the Sirius defence was outstanding as they could not break through the line. Harry Wilson at acting half back was choosing the right options and making it difficult for the Hessle defence. Sirius extended the lead when a well-deserved try from the strong running Mason Creighton went over showing real power. The half backs Charlie Matchett and Jake Connor were dictating play in the middle of the park and bringing in the outside players to exploit the space. This started to work well as the speedy centre Keenan Piser was put into a gap out wide as he went in for two tries in quick succession to make the final score 52 – 6 in favour of Sirius.

Please congratulate the boys on winning all of their games, a great start to their Sirius Academy West rugby career. Next up for the boys is a game in the Yorkshire Competition.
