Year 7 Boys – SkyTry RL Champions
The Year 7 Rugby Boys were crowned the Champions of the 9 a-side SkyTry Competition at the KCOM Craven Park, hosted by Hull KR and the City of Hull Academy with an outstanding team performance.
Sirius Academy West 3 Winifred Holtby 1
A great start the tournament to beat a strong Winifred Holtby side three tries to one. The scorers for Sirius West were Mason Palmer, Bradley Wright and Daire Kemp.
Sirius Academy West 1 Archbishop Sentamu 2
A few basic errors cost Sirius this game as they had the ball stolen on a one v one on two occasions with Archbishop capitalised on, scoring two quick tries, Sirius got a consolation try from Jake Matthews but it was to little to late as they lost this one two tries to one.
Sirius Academy West 2 St Marys 2
Sirius threw away at two try lead to let St Marys get back in the game and it end in a draw, tries for Sirius came from Daire Kemp and Harry Wilson.
Sirius Academy West 6 Oasis Academy 2
Sirius were frustrated with the draw against St Marys and came out all guns blazing, running in six tries to two, with and outstanding team effort, tries from Harry Wilson (2), Kai Jenman, Daire Kemp (3)
Sirius Academy West 2 Longcroft 1
Sirius knew if they won this one they had a chance of winning the competition. But it was Longcroft who scored first, Sirius responded well and got a try back from Kai Jenman. It looked like the game would be a draw, but Daire Kemp had other ideas as he went over on the final play of the game.
FINAL: Sirius Academy West 3 St Marys 2
Sirius Academy and St Marys finished on the same points, with the same tries scored and conceded, so a ten minute final needed to be played to decide the winner overall. Sirius made two big errors on the first tackle and St Marys went over for an early score, Daire Kemp made it 1 – 1, poor defence from Sirius saw St Marys take the lead again, but Daire Kemp equalised shortly after. With one last play before the final whistle Daire Kemp kept the ball alive and the supporting Harry Wilson dived over to seal the victory and be crowned the Year 7 SkyTry Champions 2018!
