Year 7 Football boys into the Humberside Cup QFs!
The Sirius Academy Year 7 team won through into the Humberside Cup Quarter-Final after a comprehensive 7-0 win over Hessle High. The team who are seeking to add to their Hull Schools 5 a-side Championship win, are now into the Hull Schools Cup Semi-Final, the Humberside Cup Quarter-Final and wins in their two remaining Hull League fixtures will see them crowned League champions.
Sirius started their domination early in the game with Harry Wallis dictating play, using Jack Cutler on the wide left to create opportunities in the box. The Hessle keeper was in fine form, denying the ever threatening Harry Fenton and Mason Palmer several times. At the back Finlay Bowler was assured in his first start for the Academy with captain Tom Overton marshalling the back three to great effect. Palmer was on the score-sheet for the first two goals before half-time, showing great awareness on both occasions to put the ball away for a 2-0 lead.
The 2nd half saw Sirius continue to press forward. Fenton was next on the score-sheet firing home from 20 yards before Cutler finished off a great move with Wallis feeding the ball through for him to finish off. Carrington Walker came off the bench to curl a 25 yard strike low into the corner before Alfie Sumpton again showed his danger by pouncing on an error to push the score to 6-0. Fittingly Palmer came back onto the pitch to head home the last goal for his hat-trick and a 7-0 lead.
Special thanks to Martin Smith for refereeing and helping coach the team.
Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:
