The Sirius Academy Year 7 Football team produced another excellent performance to comfortably defeat Kelvin Hall in the Hull Schools Premier League. The team remain undefeated in their five games so far for the Academy and know two wins in their next two League matches will secure the League Championship.
Sirius started with a strong wind behind their backs which let them dominate position from the kick-off. Sirius took an early lead when Alfie Sumpton carried on from his 4 goal performance in the previous match to race away and slide the ball home for 1-0. With Harry Wallis organising play smartly, distributing the ball to Danny Chadwick and Carrington Walker who caused many problems down the wings, Sirius continued to push on. Harry Fenton was next on the score-sheet, taking advantage of indecision in the Kelvin defence to curl home into an empty net from 20 yards before he added his 2nd and Sirius’ third with a neat run and calm finish. At the back Mason Palmer looked assured, dealing with any long passes over the defence, whilst captain Tom Overton led the back three including Jack Eland and Josh Smith with superb effect.
The 2nd half saw Renaldas Sokolovas and Oliver Walker introduced at the back who were both excellent in controlling the pacey Kelvin forward. Sumpton nearly added his 2nd beating the keeper and prodding the b all goal wards before Chadwick finished it off for 4-0, however Sumpton was not to be denied, racing clear from half-way before slotting home for his 2nd. Wallis and Fenton continued to probe and both could have easily scored if it were not for good saves, whilst Overton moved wide right to beta his and deliver good service into the box. Walker scored his 1st Academy goal, surging forward from midfield and smashing the ball home before Sumpton finished his hat-trick off, tapping in Wallis’ cross for a convincing 7-0 victory.
Special thanks to Martin Smith her his support with the team and to Jon White, Cosi Basile and Lewis Jarvis for their support.
Please congratulate the following boys on a superb 1st half-term as Sirius players:
