The Year 7 Sirius Academy West Girls Football team are through to the 4th Round of the National Cup after beating Rastrick High School from Huddersfield 6 – 0 in a very good team performance.

Sirius Academy West 6 Rastrick High School 0

Sirius Academy were without their top striker Isabella Taylor for this fixture, which meant that they had to change the team round, putting Alisha Dayes further forward with Ellie Robertson. Sirius were on the attack from the start and was getting themselves into some good shooting opportunities. Georgia Coggin went close early on in the match before Alisha Dayes opened the scoring with a good left foot shot into the corner. This gave the Sirius girls a lot of confidence as they dominated in the middle with Alyx Worth and Georgia Coggin covering every blade of grass in a really energetic performance. Rastrick High could not get out of the their own half, leaving keeper Lucy Sainty without a save to make. Alisha Dayes doubled the lead just before the halftime break, this time a precision right foot shot past the keeper, making the scoreline 2 – 0 in favour of Sirius.

Once again the home side started well, with the back three of Jess Toner, Rachel Robinson and Phoebe Armstrong hardly being troubled, but on the odd occasion the ball was kicked forward they dealt with it comfortably, making some good tackles and clearances. Wingers Kadie Laws and Paige Collingwood were getting forward to help the strikers and stringing together some good passes to create more chances, and it was just a matter of time before Sirius extended the lead further, a superb Ellie Robertson strike was saved by the keeper, but following up was Georgia Coggin to fire home. Alisha Dayes was having a great day in front of goal and managed to score three more goals in quick succession, with the last goal being an incredible chip over the keepers head to cap off a fine performance from the in form striker.

The final score ended 6 – 0 in a very convincing victory, with Sirius Academy working very hard as a team, with some great passing moves and skill on show.

Next up for the talented Sirius Academy Year 7 Girls football team is either Malet Lambert or De Aston School in the 4th Round of the National Cup.

Please congratulate the girls on their fantastic performance, attitude and behaviour:-
Georgia Coggin, Paige Collingwood, Lucy Sainty, Phoebe Armstrong, Ellie Robertson, Alyx Worth, Alisha Dayes, Jess Toner, Rachel Robinson and Kadie Laws.
