Year 7 Progress through to the next round of the national cup
Year 7 progress through to the next round of the national cup with a hard fought 7-1 victory over Healing School from Grimsby. The boys were tested very hard throughout the first half with the defensive back four of Chaffer, Richards, Hacket, Hepworth. It was the attackive link up of Mikey Lewis, Joe Sedman down the left hand side with sedman providing taylor purdy with a well-deserved goal. It was this link up again that nearly came off again with Healing defence clearing off the line!
Second half – Sirius defence stood strong, however taylor purdy broke through and slotted home to give Sirius a 2-0 lead. On came Samir tarafder to change the game completely with an ever attacking force of him and taylor with excellent link up play including Jack Scottow played through Sam who finished nicely to make it 3-0 sirius. Healing then pulled one back with a stunning free kick which Moss could do nothing about.
Credit to the boys they withstood the pressure and scored again through some great football in the attacking 3d with bongani and tarafder linking up well and Tarafder shooting left footed. Jack Scottow with the goal of the game picked the ball up on the half way and ran around the Healing back four to slot home with a superb finish bringing the game to 5-1. Tarafder completed his hatrick with a great through ball as he ran on to it to finish cooly in the bottom corner. The boys wasn’t going to give up and wanted to prove their real threat by playing more excellent football in the box and Tarafder scored again.
The boys finished 7-1 with a great display and convincing football.
