The Year 7 Sirius Academy Football Team reached round 4 of the ESFA National Trophy in defeating Hornsea School on penalties after extra-time.

In an exciting game that could of gone either way both teams squandered many chances to win the game outright.

Sirius took the lead through Keane Pyzer mid-way  through the first half.

The lead was only maintained for a short time and some poor decision-making in the wrong ares of the field proved costly and an equaliser!

Our composure and organisation suffered as a consequence and the team went through a period of hesitancy which culminated in another error and Hornsea taking the lead.

The boys showed character and battled away and came back into the game on the stroke of half-time through a scrambled goal from Jacob Carrick,

The second half saw the game go from end to end and chances were missed by both sides. Reece Shipley worked tirelessly up-front supported by

Harry Shooter; Liam Wilkinson; Keane Pyzer ; Jacob Carrick ; Ethan Kirby in midfield.  The defence securely marshalled by the reliable Daniel Bunce ; and Charlie Matchett alongside Jamie Whiting. Max Sadler a main barrier in goal.

Sirius were denied a victory right at the end of the game throug a ‘wonder save’ from the Hornsea goalkeeper.

So to extra-time it went! Stalemate! Then to penalties!

Time for the Max Sadler show! The villan earlier on now to become the hero!

Max as goalkeeper has been outstanding in every game and has rescued the team on many an occasion.

In the excitement of the moment we scored our first three penalties and all Hornsea penalties were saved by Max!

Our fourth penalty was dispatched with authority and we were relieved that we had made the next round.

A battling performance from all the boys. Pleae congratulate them on their success and progress.

The fourth-round draw is made on Monday 13th November.
