Year 8 Ecology Field Work
50 year 8 students attended the Thwaite Gardens in Cottingham to undertake real life ecology field work. The students have been studying ecological techniques in their lessons, so were overjoyed when they got to carry them out in a real life ecological setting thanks to guidance from trainee teachers from the University of Hull and their lecturers Richard Davies and Janet Gibbs. The activities that they carried out ranged from pond dipping to measuring the height of trees and from bird identification to soil sampling. The students were thoroughly engaged for the duration of the day and thankfully the weather remained glorious! I would like to thank all of the students involved, the staff from the University of Hull and the trainee teachers for providing such an inspiring, educational day.
