Year 8 fall to Final defeat
The Sirius Academy Year 8 team fell to a defeat against rivals St Marys College in the Hull and East Yorkshire Rugby League Final. The team tried to match the physicality of the Marys team but unfortunately could not get themselves into the match. The team now reflect on an excellent year which saw them crowned County Champions and reach this local Final.
Marys were quick out of the blocks, scoring two quick tries for a 10-0 lead. Sirius finally gained some possession and man of the match Harry Whittles sent the strong-running Kai Thorpe over who then converted for a 10-6 score-line. Another Marys try was followed by Thorpe crashing over again and goaling for 14-12.
The 2nd half saw Marys go over early before Whittles sent over Jay Kirkland to pull the score back to 18-16. However that was as good as it got for the Sirius boys who tired quickly on the large pitch and could not keep possession of the ball. Late Marys tries pushed the score out to 40-16.
Please congratulate the following boys on their success this year, attitude and behaviour:
Josh Atkinson, Jordan Webb, Jay Kirkland, Brett Dorley, Kieran Sewell, Harry Whittles, Callum Wilsher, Kai Thorpe, Josh Kirby, Tom Jordan, Ryan Addinnall, George Tyson-Wilson, Josh Lomax, John Holyman, Lewis Macklin, Reece Pickering, Joseph Coates.
