Year 8 Football boys kick off the season in style!
The all-conquering Year 8 Football boys kicked off their new season in fine style with a 14-1 victory over Woldgate College (East Riding) in the ESFA National Cup 1st Round. The team have a lot to live up to after their successes last season which saw them crowned Hull League and Cup champions as well as Humberside Cup champions. The team now face Havelock Academy (Grimsby) in the National Cup 2nd Round.
The team took time to get back into the swing of things against a hard-working opposition but once Mason Opie-Palmer had put the 1st goal in, they never looked back. Harry Wallis, Alfie Sumpton and Opie-Palmer again added goals to give Sirius a 4-0 half-time lead.
The 2nd half was very mich one way traffic as Opie-Palmer grabbed his hat-trick, Sumpton and Wallis added their 2nd goals whilst Jack Cutler slotted home two goals of his own. Jack Mortimer also claimed a brace with Daniel Chadwick also bagging a fine goal with two unfortunate Woldgate defenders turning the ball into their own net. Credit to Woldgate who did grab a late goal to bring the score to 14-1.
Please congratulate the following boys on their success, attitude and behaviour:
George Petty, Ben Spencer, Tom Overton ©, Hassan Alsherife, Carrington Walker, Jack Cutler, Harry Wallis, Jack Mortimer, Tyler Pyzer, Mason Opie-Palmer, Alfie Sumpton, Lewis Sutton, Daniel Chadwick, Callum Tadman.
