The Year 8 Football team began their Hull Schools League campaign determined to go one better then last years 2nd placed finish. The 1st match of the year saw the boys travel to Sydney Smith, a team that gave Sirius a real test last year. The Sirius boys were superb from the start, passing the ball and keeping possession well. When Luke Salas opened the scoring from 30 yards, the team seemed to grow in confidence with Kenan Stephenson who had an excellent game from right wing, making the score 2-0, quickly followed by Will Murphy for 3-0 Sirius. Lukas Mikoliunas was next on the scoresheet before Salas hit his 2nd for a half-time scoreline of 5-0.
The 2nd half began with the opposition beginning to cause Sirius problems however the backline of Callum Magee, Robbie Hird, Jordan Wardell and Jordan Littlefair stood firm, with Salas turning defence into attack to strike his hat-trick. Mikoliunas headed his 2nd and Sirius’s 7th before the hard-working Joseph Wood added an 8th. Fittingly it was Salas to finish the scoring with the final touch of the game to give him is 4th and Sirius an impressive 9-0 victory, the biggest win of their time together.
