YEAR 8 GIRLS NATIONAL RUGBY UNION CHAMPIONS
The girls travelled down to London on Friday with myself and Rachel Gay, and were later joined by Natasha, Gemma and Julie ready for their matches on Saturday Morning. The girls played 5 matches on Saturday and were up against some of the best teams across the country and despite this came top of their group scoring an impressive number of tries and no conceding one at all. The girls went through to the finals, which was to be played on the pitch at Twickenham before the Army V Navy match. They were up against Redruth school, Cornwall and there was no doubt in any of our minds that after the first 5 minutes and 2 excellent tries and solid defence the title would by won by Sirius. The win was amazing, especially as this is the first year they have ever played rugby union so we are already looking forward to building on this success for next year.
The girls were a credit to the school throughout the weekend and should be congratulated for their hard work, determination and passion. Myself and Rachel were extremely proud of them.
