Year 8 Rugby team march into Yorkshire Cup!
The Sirius Academy Year 8 Rugby League team marched into the Champion Schools Yorkshire Cup after coming through their West Hull League undefeated with a final 52-0 win over Kelvin Hall. The team finished the League with impressive figures of 106 points scored and 0 conceded in their two matches. They now look to go one step further than last season and reach the National stages.
The match saw strong performances from all boys with captain Mikey Lewis and Connor Matthews spreading the ball around well. Forwards Harrison Longden, Matty Wilson, Declan Jackson and Jack Arnett broke through the defence on several occasions with aggressive runs, supported well by Kieran Bartlett and Reece Gooch who both worked tirelessly. In the backs Jack Scottow used his pace to great effective from full-back, wingers Joseph Sedman and Callum Riley showed great finishing skills with Dylan Hepworth and Tyler Hackett running strongly wide-out. Ronan McMahon on debut and Charlie Holness came onto the pitch and continued the sides good performance.
Tries came from: Mikey Lewis x 2, Callum Riley x 2, Joseph Sedman, Declan Jackson, Jack Arnett, Jack Scottow, Harrison Longden. Goals were added by Mikey Lewis x 6 and Jack Scottow x 2.
