Year 8 Rugby team win 1st game of season!
The Sirius Academy Year 8 Rugby team carried on from last seasons Hull Schools Cup Final success after completing a 56-0 victory over Thomas Ferens. The team grew into the game and scored some excellent tries whilst defending strongly against a gallant opposition who never gave up. The team now have two matches remaining to secure qualification to the Champion Schools Yorkshire Cup.
The match saw Sirius play strongly up the middle of the pitch with Declan Jackson and Jack Arnett starting strongly before debutant Matty Wilson and Harrison Longden continued the good work. Wide out back-rowers Tyler Hackett and Dylan Hepworth produced solid defence with Reece Gooch and Kieran Bartlett working hard in defence and attack. Half-backs Connor Matthews and captain Mikey Lewis controlled the attack well with Luke Moss linking up and using the dangerous backs in Jack Scottow, Jordan Wornor, Callum Riley and Joseph Sedman.
The Sirius tries came from Mikey Lewis x3, Declan Jackson x2, Jack Arnett, Jack Scottow, Tyler Hackett, Matty Wilson and Callum Riley. Successful conversions came from Lewis x5, Scottow, Luke Moss and Wilson.
Special thanks to Janice Hall for driving the bus and supporting the boys.
