Year 9 Football boys beat Endeavour
The Sirius Academy Year 9 Football team beat Endeavour High on a windy, cold night at Costello. In a game played in very difficult conditions the boys worked hard to control the ball and create opportunities. The boys now look forward to their ESFA National Cup Round 3 match against Headlands High (Bridlington) on Tuesday afternoon.
The match started slowly for Sirius with Robbie Hird, Brandon Leigh and Jordan Wardell battling hard against the big Endeavour forwards. In attack Joseph Wood and Lukas Mikoliunas worked well down the wings, with Callum Magee marshalling the defence and starting attacks well. On the stroke of half-time a Kenan Stephenson pass was turned in by Mikoliunas for a 1-0 lead.
The 2nd half saw Kieran Bartlett in action with some alert keeping, and Olly Russell and Will Murphy working hard up front. Chris Brown and Younis Al Shimmiri were put on to add extra size and this worked well with a Brown strike floating into the corner off the wind for a 2-0 lead. With limited time left a Luke Collingwood pass was latched onto by Brown who showed strength against the keeper to make it 3-0 and a deserved win.
Please congratulate the following boys:
Kieran Bartlett, Jordan Wardell, Brandon Leigh, Robbie Hird, Joseph Wood, Luke Collingwood, Callum Magee, Kenan Stephenson, Lukas Mikoliunas, Will Murphy, Olly Russell, Younis Al Shimmiri, Chris Brown.
